@02:55It's weird how this is horror, yet there are many humorous sound effects. It adds to the eeriness, though.

The third Novus-movie.

The movie was made in Toon Boom Animate 2 in april and may 2010.
The other Novus-movies (VII and VIII) and the comics (I-VI) can be found on my profile.

I hope you enjoy it. Feedback and constructive critisism is very much appreciated. If you have any other questions regarding the film, I´ll be happy to answer them. Thanks to everyone for all the feedback - especially on Novus VII

PS - its not the last movie in the series... Novus has much more to discover.....

@07:18The wolf had to die to the sake of drama... To many happy endings out there. But we will remember the wolf with fondness right ;)

Hi

I watched Novus XII on the ToonBoom showcase about a year ago and liked it very much, although I did have a reservation about the “gliding” walks of the main character. However, the artwork was fantastic and the storyline nicely twisted. I watched Novus IX this week and I have felt compelled to go back to it a number of times. I think Novus IX is an exceptional piece of work. The artwork is incredibly beautiful, the mood is expertly controlled, the sound and music perfect and the mix of camera/scenery moves fascinating. I usually, try to find something I think could be improved but I can’t really come up with anything. If I was really forced to say something of that nature, I would say it wasn’t clear to me at first that the protaganist was released from the bear’s stomach. Plus getting eaten by a bear is usually a one way process. However, I must acknowledge that some of the early versions of Red Riding Hood had her cut from the wolf’s belly. The other thing I watched a couple of times was the camera rotation from the full face wolf and protaginist to the profile shot when they are confronted by the killer bunnies. I wasn’t sure how this was being done without a 3d image and wondered why you didn’t use a jump cut.

In my view, this is work of the very highest standard.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback - not many people bother to do so :)

I am really happy that you like the movies and are inclined to watch them again.

I agree to all the things you are saying, basically. About the first movie, well, I didnt know how to make walk-cycles. The first scene was the first one I ever made in Toon Boom, and the entire movie just expanded on that scene actually.

I thought about Novus IX the other day, and I thought exactly the same thing about the bear scene - I should have made it clearer that Novus actually climbs out of the bear... Well, I hope most people get it anyways.

The camera rotation you are referring to is actually just an experiment. This is one of the few areas where I use frame-by-frame animation - about 20 drawings in succession. This is extremely timeconsuming, so I kind of used it as an effect in the scene.... I wouldnt be able to do this on a grander scale (I would need to be a better animator also if I should make more like this.)

Thanks again for the feedback. I have started on a new movie, but my (daytime) work takes so much time nowadays, that Im having trouble sitting dow completing it. Its about Norwegian gnomes and waterspirits, and are in full color. Im also working on a new Novus, which will be the scariest yet.

Do you make movies yourself?
